Layered spaces, Hughes brothers, D.S. & Durga fangirling
Hi friends,
I know it’s already Tuesday, but my brain is still on the weekend, both past and future. My weekend was filled with crushing on the Hughes brothers and celebrating my dog’s birthday. Yes we did take him out to dinner, order him spaghetti and meatballs, and put a candle in the meatball — all before going home for homemade dog cake…with another candle. Shrug emoji.
Quick source need today. For House Outlook, I’d love a quote from an interior designer on this concept: for a more compelling, layered space, pair one plain element with one interesting one. For example, a plain sofa with an interesting coffee table. Or an elaborate bed frame with simple nightstands. You get it.
Have someone who could shoot over a quotable soundbite on why this concept works by EOD? Send me a note with their quote: megan.leigh.mccarty@gmail.com with the subject line “Layered Spaces.”

I’m a total fangirl of D.S. & Durga, so I was delighted last week to meet the owner for a scent workshop. How inspiring to be around someone seriously jazzed by their work. They have a vision and it’s fun. If you’re new to the brand, start with the customizable sample set ($40). Fig-based Debaser is my forever fave, but there’s no going wrong.
The way I would replace every offensively boring handle in my apartment with these Lo and Co polished nickel ($44) knobs, each one unique, if I could. If you can, please do and let me know how the good life feels.
It’s the little things that make my world go ‘round. Like a good detangler so I don’t have to rip hair out of my head after showering. These days I’m loving Bumble and Bumble’s Prep Detangling Hair Primer ($34). (Amazon link if you prefer.) On that topic, I need a new conditioner. Any recommendations?
